OPRF Students Keeping it Classy....

Today we had our 32nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Assembly...which centered around the theme..Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.  Students were asked to write an essay with the following prompt...Describe a song that you feel celebrates diversity”
Congrats to our top 3 essay winners of the 2016 Dr. Martin Luther King Essay Contest:
• Our 3rd place prize, Sydney Jackson
• 2nd place prize, Grace Johnson, who was the 1st place winner last year
• And our 1st place winner, Freshman Morgan Varnado who based his essay of of the song BlackMan by Stevie Wonder

A special thank you goes out to Mr. Rob Breymaier from the Oak Park Regional Housing Center, who provides the cash prizes for our winners.

For the first time, OPRF had a presentation from a teacher-Mr. Costopoulos, who wrote a very heartfelt, thought provoking essay entitled The Orange Ribbon in the Sky- a reflection from his childhood describing the riots in Chicago after Dr. King was assassinated.

We had amazing assemblies with very engaged and respectful audiences...THANK YOU OPRF STUDENTS FOR KEEPING IT CLASSY!

Have a wonderful 3-day weekend!
