Teacher Collaboration Teams

Did you know that your OPRF teachers meet in professional learning communities- that we call teacher collaboration teams to talk about best practices across divisions that are helping students be successful?
Here is a pic from one of today's Teacher Leader sessions. Each team has a teacher leader that meets with colleagues from divisions across the school to talk about their work.
OPRF teachers are working incredibly hard to find ways to better support student academic growth! Most TCTs meet on late arrival Wednesdays.

Felony Franks at OPRF

Today I was invited to a presentation for our Reading Essentials classes during 3rd Period. Deno Andrews, 1989 alum and owner of Felony Franks, spoke to our students based upon an article they were reading about a company similar to Felony Franks, but out in LA called Homeboy Industry that hires individuals who have been incarcerated. Special thanks to Mr. Cohen for the invite!!!

TEAM OPRF Lunch Snacks are HERE!

The TEAM program has set up a snack table in the Studio Study Area to continue their work on social skills, real life math skills and organization.  They will be selling snacks on Tuesday and Thursday.  Here is a cool advertisement describing their menu along with a pic from Tuesday.  Enjoy!

My Sophomore English Teacher

I went back home a few weeks back and ran into my Sophomore English Teacher...Ms. Sitter from Elgin High School at a golf outing. I asked her if I can take a pic for my blog and she was cool with it.  I am grateful to still be in contact with her and be able to show appreciation to the adults that have helped me become the person I am today.  I hope that you are able to do the same OPRF!
