Why are there empty seats.....

IN THE TUTORING CENTER??

Need a little extra help with homework?  Then stop by the Tutoring Center!  It's the 2nd Floor West Library (Room 293).  You can go there before/after school and during your lunch/study hall with a pass.

Don't forget..if you happen to get a detention for Tardies...you can spend a half of the time in the Tutoring Center and receive full credit for an hour long detention!  Check in with your Student Intervention Director (SID) if you have questions!

The Administrative Collaboration Team

The ACT (Administrative Collaboration Team) is a group of administrators that I meet with every Thursday from 1:30-3PM.  What do we do?  Talk about ways to better support teachers to help them meet your needs in the classroom!

In the picture are Assistant Principals Mr. Jason Dennis- Instruction & Ms. Jennifer Hoffmann- Student Services, along with Division Heads (They directly supervise our teachers) Ms. Julie Frey- Math, Mr. Clay Reagan- PE/Driver's Ed, Ms. Claudia Sahagun- World Languages, Mr. Josh Seldess- History, Ms. Kennedi Dixon- Special Education, Ms. Sarah Roodhouse- Fine & Applied Arts, Ms. Helen Gallagher- English, and Mr. Matt Kirkpatrick- Science/Health.

Our topics today focused around Professional Development (training for teachers and administrators) that help produce positive results for students in the classroom.  It's our first meeting of the year so our agenda today is pretty light...not to mention that we have a few new administrators to our team!

Ms. Carrow's1st Period Photo Class

Check out some of Ms. Carrow's 1st Period Photo Class getting some high quality instruction on taking angled photos today!  Have you taken a photography class at OPRF?

Mr. Rouse....Just Being Dad....

Happy Thursday OPRF!

For those of you who don't know....Mr. Rouse has a 1st Grader!  My son Nathaniel's (Thaniel) first day of school was yesterday so I volunteered to go to his school and assist his teacher with getting their 1st Grade classroom together.  As you can see- he's really excited about 1st Grade...let alone his Dad being there (yeah right)!

The coolest part of it for me.....his elementary school has no idea that I'm the Principal at OPRF!  It was nice to go to a school, let alone his classroom, and just be a Dad for the day.   I'll have him with me on campus from time to time...He LOVES OPRF!  He also attended our day care here until he was 3 years old so he knows his way around the school.

Hope you don't mind me sharing this!

Kudos to The OPRF Geek Squad

Happy Monday!

Before anyone starts poking fun....I asked them if it was okay and they are totally cool with the name:)

I wanted to send a quick thank you to some of the hardest working Huskies in the building!  The OPRF Geek Squad is the group of student technicians who have been helping get our offices and classrooms hooked up with phone lines and tech equipment over the summer.

From left to right their names are as follows:

  • Brad Houha
  • Patrick Spenser
  • Cameron Bates
  • Jane Jozefowicz
  • Grace Ewell
  • Sade Coffman

If you know these students or see them in the halls, make sure that you give them a big "THANK YOU" for what they have done to make your classrooms and office spaces ready for the 2015-16 School Year!

We have Launched!

Check out a few of our senior leaders mentoring freshmen in our new program called Launch. We randomly selected 160 freshmen to participate in the pilot this year. Six sections of Launch meet every day, replacing freshman study hall. During Launch, approximately 20 freshmen have space to complete homework, and several days a week, they also receive mentoring and tutoring from five upper-class students and a teacher.

Welcome to a new year!

Hey, there, Huskies! Welcome back!

Summer has come and gone, and it's time to get down to some Huskie business! What does that mean? Getting it done in the classroom, and of course, exceling in your extracurricular endeavors.

With the freshman mentors at today's Huskie Kickoff spirit assembly.
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and administration, I wanted to send you a quick shout-out to let you know how excited we are about the 2015-2016 school year. We've been working very hard over the summer to make sure that your transition back to school is a smooth as possible.

I am trying something new this year with this blog, Mr. Rouse in the House, to keep you updated about the really cool things happening around the school that involve my most important people--YOU!

That's all for now, and until next time....SEEEEE YAAAAAA!
